Dioctyl terephthalate (DOTP) prices firmed across major regions in the third quarter of 2026, driven by rising feedstock and energy costs. In China, the DOTP price index rose quarter-over-quarter and prices settled at approximately USD 1,100/MT FOB, supported by surging raw-material input costs as the producer price index rose 5.0% year-on-year in September 2026.
In Germany, DOTP prices also rose quarter-over-quarter, influenced by rising production costs as European natural gas prices climbed significantly in September. Germany’s producer price index increased 4.6% year-on-year in August, although a contracting manufacturing index tempered industrial demand. In North America, DOTP prices strengthened on firmer naphtha feedstock costs, with the U.S. producer price index rising 6.3% year-over-year in September.
Across all three regions, elevated energy and feedstock costs — including crude-oil-related inputs and, in the U.S., naphtha premiums linked to geopolitical disruptions — provided upward pricing pressure in Q3 2026, while softer consumer demand and weaker automotive sales in parts of Europe and Asia limited the upside.
