The global calcium stearate market is projected to grow from USD 0.62 billion in 2025 to USD 1.02 billion by 2035, at a CAGR of 5.1%, according to Emergen Research. Asia Pacific leads the market with the largest revenue share.
The growth is closely tied to the phase-out of lead in PVC. Under Regulation (EU) 923/2023, lead content in PVC is limited to 0.1%, which dismantled the economic case for lead stabilizers in Europe and triggered rapid reformulation toward calcium-based systems that depend on calcium stearate. Calcium stearate is notable because it simultaneously behaves as both a heat stabilizer and a lubricant during PVC extrusion, making it a versatile component in calcium-zinc stabilizer one-pack formulations alongside zinc stearate and co-stabilizers.
Beyond PVC, demand is reinforced by Asia-Pacific infrastructure projects where calcium stearate is used as a concrete admixture, and by its applications in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and plastics. By type, calcium stearate led metallic stearates with a 34.2% revenue share in 2025, with plastics & polymers representing the largest application segment.
