The global indium tin oxide (ITO) market was valued at USD 2.84 billion in 2025 and is projected to reach USD 6.84 billion by 2035, at a CAGR of 9.2% from 2026 to 2035, according to Emergen Research. ITO, a solid solution of indium(III) oxide and tin(IV) oxide, is the dominant transparent conductive oxide used in display screens, touch panels, thin-film solar cells, transparent electrodes and antistatic coatings.
Demand is driven by the proliferation of smartphones, tablets, laptops and automotive displays, together with expanding deployment of interactive touch panels in retail, education and industrial human-machine interfaces. ITO’s combination of high optical transparency and electrical conductivity makes it the reference transparent electrode material for LCD and OLED displays, and it is increasingly used in energy-efficient glazing and solar applications. Asia-Pacific dominates manufacturing and consumption, anchored by display and electronics fabs in South Korea, China, Japan and Taiwan.
While next-generation flexible OLEDs on polymer substrates are exploring alternative transparent conductors, ITO remains the incumbent material for rigid displays and is projected to retain a large share of the transparent-electrode market through the forecast period. Tin’s role within ITO ties its demand to global tin-chemical supply chains, and producers continue to invest in high-purity ITO targets and sputtering materials to meet the precision requirements of advanced panel manufacturing.
