Chlorinated paraffin prices firmed sharply across Asia-Pacific in Q3 2026, with the ChemAnalyst Price Index rising 15.26% quarter-over-quarter as tighter export availability from China and India coincided with higher chlorine and electricity costs. The average price settled at USD 964.33/MT on a CFR Tanjung Priok, Indonesia basis, while September spot assessments reached USD 1,249.00/MT in Indonesia, USD 1,177.00/MT in Malaysia and USD 1,121.00/MT in Vietnam.
Chinese suppliers raised export offers on higher chlorine costs and electricity tariffs, reducing available short-chain cargoes to Indonesia, while Indian producers prioritised domestic cable demand and limited spot parcels to Southeast Asia during September. Monsoon-related congestion at Tanjung Priok lengthened container turnaround, adding demurrage and logistics expense to landed import costs, and the Indonesian rupiah’s depreciation weakened buyers’ purchasing power for USD-denominated imports. Downstream wire-and-cable and PVC sectors maintained procurement, and with import dependence above 80%, Indonesian buyers remained price-takers, allowing elevated export offers to transmit directly to local markets.
In North America the Q3 average was USD 1,491/MT (CFR), influenced by chlorine and paraffin feedstock costs, while Asia-Pacific had fallen 8.3% in Q2 to USD 743/MT FOB China on subdued downstream demand. Regulatory scrutiny of short-chain chlorinated paraffins (SCCPs) continues to steer procurement toward permitted medium- and long-chain grades, and ChemAnalyst’s near-term forecast points to moderate volatility as chlorine, paraffin feedstock, energy and freight costs, supply availability and downstream demand move in tandem. Key global suppliers include INOVYN, Ajinomoto Fine-Techno, Altair Chimica and NCP Chlorchem.
